Our Mission
Civics for Colorado is dedicated to ensuring every Colorado student is equipped to participate thoughtfully and effectively in our democracy.
We are a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to sparking civic engagement across all generations in Colorado. For over 35 years, we’ve partnered with schools, leaders, and communities to increase civic knowledge, develop skills, and foster productive conversations that lead to meaningful action and engagement.
What We Do
In Colorado schools we provide students and educators with tools and opportunities to engage deeply in civic learning:
- Convene a coalition of stakeholders who advocate for civics education
- Professional learning for teachers to empower them in delivering effective civics education.
- Real-world civic engagement opportunities for students that build practical skills and understanding.
- Coordination of National Civics Programs, including:
- We the People constitutional law program
- Project Citizen civic action program
- Street Law, Inc. community deliberations
- Civics that Empowers All Student (CEAS)
- James Madison Legacy Project
